AS of November 1st, the government says over 100 people have died from the Swine Flu. The government says this is a NATIONAL EMERGENCY. Why then is 122 people each day dieing from lack of healthcare not a national health emergency? Write your representatives today...lack of healthcare is a national emergency too!

Get Healthy Dorchester 3:

The Sequel's Sequel

Sponsored by Dorchester Progressive Democrats

and Organizing for America

On October 3rd we held our third Get Healthy Dorchester event and again this Healthcare awareness event was sponsored by  Dorchester Progressive Democrats/PDA and  Organizing For America. We had 72 people stop by the booth and did 43 Blood Pressure checks, got many healthcare declarations signed and took our poll. Our poll once again was overwhelming for the public option with many people choosing SINGLE PAYER, no one chose to keep the system the same!

Information was distributed about TRUE Healthcare reform, SChip, Senior services, free clinics, hospice and much more. The response from the community was very positive.

Several people filled out Healthcare declarations in support of Healthcare reform and several others volunteered for future events.

Thank you ONCE AGAIN Dorchester County for Getting Healthy!

GET HEALTHY DORCHESTER!
June 27th, 2009

Sponsored by

Organizing For America

The OFA event was a huge success! We had nine volunteers show up to serve! We did well over 100 Blood Pressure checks and met with about 200 people who stopped by. Information was distributed about TRUE Healthcare reform, SChip, Senior services, free clinics, hospice and much more. We were able to refer people to services in the community, including a woman who needed hospice services for her husband and didn't know where to go. The response from the community was overwhelmingly positive. It was clearly evident that people know there is a crisis and want to see real healthcare reform. Many people told their stories to us about healthcare. So many of those who stopped by the booth had no healthcare coverage or inadequate coverage.

Thank you Dorchester County for Getting Healthy!

 GET HEALTHY DORCHESTER!: The Sequel
August 1st, 2009

Sponsored by

Organizing For America

On August 1st we repeated our Get Healthy Dorchester event and again this Healthcare awareness event was sponsored by Organizing For America. The booth was manned by members of the Dorchester County Democratic Party and the Dorchester Progressive Democrats.

We did well almost 100 Blood Pressure checks and met with about 150 people who stopped by.  Again, information was distributed about TRUE Healthcare reform, SChip, Senior services, free clinics, hospice and much more. The information was printed by members of the Dorchester County Democratic Party and the Dorchester Progressive Democrats  While, the response from the community was very positive, there were those who visited and believed the misinformation that the opponents of true health care are promoting.

WE conducted a healthcare survey and found out of the respondents 48% wanted Private Insurance with a public option, 32% wanted a Single Payer plan, 9% wanted Private insurance with stronger regulation, 9% wanted to keep Private insurance as is and one respondent wanted to do away with all insurance government or private.

Several people filled out Healthcare declarations in support of Healthcare reform and several others volunteered for future events.

Thank you ONCE AGAIN Dorchester County for Getting Healthy!
